Our Mother Tongue — Our National Identity, Pride and Heritage!

Happy Uzbek Language Day — 21 October!

Our mother tongue is a priceless treasure that enters our lives through a mother’s lullaby, helping us understand the world, express our thoughts and discover who we are. It is in our native language that we first hear words of love, kind wishes and meaningful lessons about life. For us, the Uzbek language is therefore more than a means of communication: it is a cherished part of our identity, embodying our people’s history, culture, spiritual heritage and national pride.

The community of Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute warmly congratulates all faculty members, staff, students and fellow citizens on Uzbek Language Day, celebrated on 21 October! This special occasion reminds us to reflect on the place of our mother tongue in our lives, appreciate its rich possibilities and contribute responsibly to its development.

The beauty of the Uzbek language lies in its musicality, subtle shades of meaning and remarkable expressive range. Our people’s proverbs, fairy tales, epics and songs preserve the experience and wisdom of generations. The literary legacy of Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur and other distinguished figures reveals the artistic power of our language and the ability of words to shape human thought and feeling. By exploring this heritage, we enrich our language and deepen our understanding of our national culture.

Respect for our mother tongue begins with simple yet important everyday habits. Choosing words thoughtfully, expressing ideas clearly, following spelling conventions and addressing others respectfully are all practical expressions of language awareness. Reading books, learning the meanings of unfamiliar words and continually improving our communication skills expand our vocabulary and deepen our thinking.

For educators, a strong command of the mother tongue is especially important. Every explanation, question and piece of advice a teacher offers influences not only students’ learning but also the development of their language and thinking. Clear, accurate and considerate speech strengthens mutual understanding in the classroom. Preparing future teachers therefore requires attention to both professional knowledge and the ability to communicate responsibly and effectively.

In today’s digital environment, caring for our language takes on an even broader meaning. By producing accurate, clear and meaningful website articles, social media posts, digital textbooks and presentations, we help strengthen the presence of Uzbek in the modern information space. The care we give to every announcement, headline and comment reflects our respect for the language.

Learning other languages opens doors to new knowledge and opportunities. A deep understanding of our mother tongue provides a firm foundation for making sense of that knowledge, thinking independently and expressing our own views clearly. We all share an interest in helping young people become multilingual individuals who also appreciate the richness of Uzbek and use it with confidence and pride.

Dear teachers and students, let us honour our mother tongue through our daily actions as well as our holiday greetings. Let us read more, strive to speak thoughtfully and write accurately, and inspire younger generations to love their language. Together, we can pass this priceless inheritance on to future generations in all its richness and beauty.

May our mother tongue continue to flourish and gain recognition! Happy Uzbek Language Day!
